Instructions
- Preheat the Oven – Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch cake pan.
- Prepare the Cake Batter – In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until creamy, then mix in eggs and vanilla extract. Gradually add the dry ingredients and milk, stirring until smooth. Fold in the diced apples.
- Make the Crumble Topping – In a small bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and cinnamon. Mix until crumbly.
- Layer the Cake – Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan. Drizzle caramel sauce evenly over the batter, then pour the remaining batter on top.
- Add the Crumble – Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the cake.
- Bake the Cake – Place in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool & Serve – Let the cake cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm for the best molten caramel effect.
